7 Tips for Beating the Heat at your Summer Wedding in BC

POV: you’re planning your summer wedding and while of course you’re excited, you might be worried about the heat. Myself and Emily from Behind the Veil Weddings have you covered with our 7 best tips and tricks to help you prepare for your summer wedding in BC!

Find Emily and BTV Weddings on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest or find her website here.

1 — choose a venue that has air conditioning

If you’re choosing an indoor venue, you’ve got to check that sh*t. A/C is a must for indoor summer weddings! All your guests will thank you.

2 — if you’re renting a tent, get misters or fans

You can rent or buy misters or fans for your guests. You can get large misters like this one on Amazon. If your budget allows for it, you could even customize them and make them into cute party favors like this fan on Etsy!

3 — consider shade when planning your ceremony

When looking at your ceremony space, be sure to consider the lighting. If you’re planning a 2pm ceremony in the middle of July, it’s likely that the sun will be strong and you could be dealing with harsh shadows. If there’s an area with some tree coverage or shade, I would take that into consideration!

4 — have a refreshments table ready for your guests arrival

Maybe it’s a champagne tower or a signature cocktail. Or maybe it’s just a water station with fun flavours (like lemon, cucumber, or watermelon). Whatever it is, it’s a great thing to have to help your guests stay hydrated. You can get really pretty water station jugs like this one on Amazon!

5 — set up a relief station

Have an area with water, bug spray, sunscreen, fans, and sunglasses. This is such nice tough to help ensure your guests are comfortable in the heat! This would be another great opportunity to customize some party favours such as these personalized sunglasses on Etsy.

6 — choose a photo location with shade coverage

Your photographer should absolutely have a plan for shade coverage for your family photos, wedding party photos, and couples portraits. Until the sun is a bit lower in the sky, we want to make sure we avoid those harsh shadows!

7 — hire a professional makeup artist

To ensure your look stays in place all day long, be sure to hire a professional. They have all the best products and tricks to make sure you’ll be looking and feeling youir best from sunrise to sunset (and into the night!)

A few of my favourite MUA’s in Kamloops are Cassidy Watt Artistry Collective, Glam by Lauren Meakes (from CWAC), and Renegade Beauty Co.
